A brief presentation will focus on the process criteria that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is establishing for hospitals, with the majority of the webinar dedicated to answering your sepsis-related questions. National sepsis expert Dr. Tom Ahrens will offer solutions to the barriers you've encountered in caring for patients, so you can ensure that best practices from the Surviving Sepsis Campaign are followed at your hospital.
You are encouraged to submit questions in advance of the live event through AACN's Practice Resource Network, using "AACN Critical Care Webinar Series" as a topic.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Define the process criteria that CMS will implement in 2016 to make sepsis a Core Measure.
- Review barriers to full implementation of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines that are commonly seen in practice, and learn strategies to address them.
- Evaluate sepsis-related practices in your unit, and consider where you have opportunities to establish or improve these practices for your patients.
